New Connections and hopefully New friends ….

Last night we attended a Family Night put on by the American Diabetes Association..

The first annual event put on to try and get local Type 1 families together, have fun and connect.

ADA is hoping to put on more events in the future and grow the local support network – something I am excited to be a part of.

I have to say – it was really nice to see a group of other T1D families – but so sad at the same time…

It is so easy for us to live in our own little Diabetes “bubble”…

I get so much support and comfort from my online T1D groups but when you see the faces right in front of you of the people fighting the same fight day in and day out instead of on a computer screen it was a very different feeling for me…

As much as we can sometimes feel so alone in this battle – there are REAL people close by who totally understand the day to day emotions and roller coaster ride we are on..

I’m going to step OUT of my comfort zone – be a part of each and every one of these ADA family meet ups in the future – making new connections and hopefully new friends along the way.

  1. I’m glad you guys made it out yesterday. If it’s any consolation, you didn’t look like you were out of your element at all.
